Madonna fears she wouldn't have been a big success if her career had started today - because her twentysomething self would be "too fat" to be a 21st century starlet.
The pop superstar insists she wasn't svelte enough when she had her first hits in the 1980s to repeat her successes in 2006.

She says: "I would have been too fat… When I started out I was kind of zafti (Yiddish term for plump). I would have had to get anorexia.

"They would have said, "She is way too chubby."
